Coxeter Lecture Series: Carina Curto
Description
Professor Carina Curto
Pablo J. Salame Goldman Sachs Professor of Computational Neuroscience
Professor of Applied Mathematics and Brain Science
Division of Applied Mathematics and the Carney Institute for Brain Science
Brown University, Providence, RI, USA
Professor Carina Curto received an A.B. in physics from Harvard University in 2000 and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Duke University in 2005. During her postdoctoral years at Rutgers University and New York University, she transitioned to theoretical and computational neuroscience. She then held faculty positions in mathematics at University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2009-2014) and The Pennsylvania State University (2014-2024). Her current research focuses on the theory and analysis of neural networks and neural codes, motivated by questions of learning, memory, and sequence generation in cortical and hippocampal circuits. A big part of her research program involves developing novel applications of algebra, geometry, topology, dynamical systems, and combinatorics to neuroscience.
