In this talk, we will discuss the results presented in the article "Beyond Endoscopy for GL(2, K),". It is a joint work with Melissa Emory, Debanjana Kundu, and Tian An Wong. The paper extends to more general number fields the method originally applied by Altug

in the case of Q. Its goal is to isolate the non-tempered discrete spectrum from the main part of the geometric side of the trace formula for GL(2), in a way that is analytically meaningful. Our discussion will be guided by several questions that emerged during

this work. A clearer understanding of these questions may shed light on the flexibility and scope of the method as it is applied to broader settings.
